2025 National Children’s Month

The theme for this year’s National Children’s Month, “OSAEC-CSAEM Wakasan: Kaligtasan at Karapatan ng Bata, Ipaglaban!”, highlights a very serious issue that many young people face today—online sexual abuse and exploitation. For me, this theme reminds us that even if technology makes life easier, it also creates new dangers for children. The message encourages everyone, especially adults and the government, to take a strong stand in protecting kids not just offline, but also online where most abuse now happens.


I think the government has been improving its actions when it comes to protecting children’s safety, dignity, and rights. Laws like Republic Act 11930 or the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act show that the government recognizes how dangerous the internet can be. This law forces online platforms to strengthen their security, helps law enforcement trace criminals faster, and ensures that victims receive proper support and protection. For me, this is a good sign that the government is becoming more aware of modern threats.

However, legal protections are not enough. Many children and parents still don’t know how OSAEC happens or how to report it. The government needs to continue spreading awareness through schools, barangays, and social media. Regular campaigns, training for teachers, and accessible reporting channels can help prevent abuse before it happens. If children are educated about their rights, they become more confident in speaking up and asking for help.


Overall, I believe the government is heading in the right direction, but continuous effort is needed. Ending OSAEC and CSAEM is not just a one-time campaign it requires teamwork among the government, parents, schools, and the community. Every child deserves to grow up in a safe environment where their dignity is respected and their rights are fully protected.

Reflection

 This first quarter has been a very good experience for me. I learned many new things in my subjects and enjoyed studying. I tried my best in school activities, class participation, and group projects. I also paid more attention to my teachers’ lessons and asked questions when I did not understand something. I felt proud whenever I did my assignments on time and did well in my tests. Compared to grade 9, this first quarter was different. In grade 9, I sometimes struggled to understand lessons or finish my tasks on time. I also needed more help from my teachers and classmates. But this year, I feel I am more responsible and focused.
